Everlast Protex2 Boxing Glove Review

Protex2

When choosing the right gloves for boxing there are many things that come into play when finally deciding on a glove that fits your personal needs. Recently ive had the chance to pick up some everlast protex2 boxing gloves. Things such as durability, material, comfort, hand/wrist support and price all com into play when making your ultimate decision for a pair of boxing gloves. The following is a review of the everlast protex2 boxing glove. If you already know you want the protex2 gloves, buy them here for the best price and discounted/free shipping.

Durability

So ive had the protex2 gloves for a couple of months now and everything is holding up fine. I box about 3-4 times a week for a few hours per session mixing up between bag, mitt work as well as lots of sparring. The protex2 have not had any issues with becoming unstitched, abnormal lumps, or any tearing.  Certain gloves that I have had in the past have torn within a week of normal wear and tear, be weary of the cheap 19.99 gloves.

Comfort

Comfort is great in the protex2. Depending on how you wrap your hands the glove isn’t too tight or have too much wiggle room. With some gloves after extended periods of time your hand may become cramped with certain boxing gloves but that didn’t happen with the protex2 gloves at all. There’s also some vent holes that help give your hands a little needed fresh air. We all know just how sweaty our hands can get while we box for hours on end, a little ventilation goes a long way The one element that I felt a bit uncomfortable with was the spacing between the thumb and the rest of the glove, it just felt a little weird.

Hand/wrist support

The hand and wrist support in the everlast protex2 is above average. I never felt any kind of sprains, aches or like I needed some extra protection for my wrists or hands. I use standard Mexican wraps the 180s and everything felt good. Sometimes boxing gloves can feel like there is too much space around the wrist area which can in turn lead to injuries.

Overall I like the everlast protex2 glove. It can be used by just about anyone from novice to the experienced veteran. I have a few pairs of boxing gloves and these babies constantly make it into my rotation. The extra padding is great for protection and your sparring partners will also thank you. Doron from NY says:

I go all out on the heavy bag 2 or 3 times a week for about 40 minutes a pop. Without gel, my knuckles get very sore and take a while to recover. I use TiGear 180″ wraps with these gloves and I can hit as hard as I want without fear of hurting myself.

An alternative to these gloves would be gel “speed wraps” or pads under conventional wraps with a regular leather bag glove. Personally I find these gloves very… read full review here

Another reviewer writes:

The protex2 are decent gloves that can be used to hit the bags, shadow boxing, or light sparring.
Pros: Breathes well; Good Wrist Support

Cons: A bit small in the wrists. I bought a L/XL and the first time I put them on it was hard to close the wrist support. It has stretched out a little bit and it is easier to close now, but keep in mind this when using wraps and your hand size.

Protex2 – Boxing Cardio

Boxing Cardio, the Hiit method

So if you are a beginner and looking into getting boxing it can be a little intimidating. Here are a few boxing tips that will help transition into the seasoned vet that you want to be.

You can never have enough cardio, get better cardio any way that you can: running, swimming, biking etc. Personally I have found the recipe for cardio success is a training method called hiit or high intensity interval training. Theres lots of great information all over the internet on this type of program but heres the cliff note version. Basically you exert high amounts of energy in short bursts and then you rest, you continue this for 10-30 minutes.

Heres one example of how I use hiit training to improve my boxing cardio; I jump on the treadmill and set it to about 4mph or so, something where im just walking and not really exerting energy. After about a minute or 2 (depending on your cardio) I blast the treadmill to 10 for 1 minute, then back to 4mph.  This method gets your heart rate racing and then lets it rest a little then gets it racing again. This doesn’t seem that hard but jump on and do a 10 minute session and see if your not sucking some wind. Another benefit of the hiit method is that once your done with your workout your body is still burning massive amounts of fat. Since your body is getting confused with the crazy change in hear rate it continues to burn fat cells even after you are done with your workout.

This was a quick rundown on a method I use to improve my boxing cardio, I highly suggest you read further on the hiit method, it truly is an amazing tool to have in your arsenal. I used to run long slow to moderate paced distances but found that my cardio was improving at a slowww rate. Once I was turned on to the hiit method my cardio went through the roof after only a few weeks of implementing it. Womens Protex2 Review

The EVERLAST protex2 Pro Style women’s boxing gloves are also known as the ‘hook’ and ‘loop’ training gloves. These boxing gloves are designed for sparring and punching bag training. Since these gloves conform to the shape of the female fist, they promote proper punching. These gloves feature an increased wrist protection for a more deadly punch. The marketing slogan for these gloves is that they are “serious gloves for serious boxers”. Here is a complete reviews of the womens protex2 gloves.

EVERLAST started out during early 1900 by making swimsuits and later progressed to making boxing equipment. In 1919, Jack Dempsey, during the world boxing championship, wore the EVERLAST boxing gloves. It became a household name, and also became a brand that was to be associated with boxing. Today, it manufactures boxing equipment for both men and women. The women’s Pro Style model is a very basic one, while the Protex2 is a more advanced and more expensive model.

Functions :  The EVERLAST protex2  Pro style women’s boxing gloves are also known as the’ hook’ and ‘loop’ training gloves. These gloves are designed for sparring and punching bag training.  According to the official EVERLAST website, these boxing gloves feature an increased wrist protection since they conform to the shape of the female wrist. These gloves also feature an added wrist protection for harder hitting. The women’s Protex2 boxing gloves were created with the sole intention of providing the user with an optimum quality that was not found in any other boxing gloves within the same price range. These gloves provide the user with extra comfort, protection and outstanding stability; the same things that are needed during intense training and boxing sessions.

Specifications:  The EVERLAST Pro Style women’s boxing gloves are available in a variety of sizes- 8, 12, 14 and 16 oz sizes, and the Protex2 are available in 8, 10 and 12 oz. Boxers maintain that the heavier the gloves, the more the protection. Hence, a beginner usually wears 14 or 16 oz gloves, and a professional boxer wears 10 oz gloves. Pro Style boxing gloves for women are available in two colors- pink and black. The Protex2 women’s boxing gloves are available only in pink.

Design:  Both the Protex2 and the Pro Style women’s boxing gloves are made of synthetic leather and have Velcro fasteners attached to them. The Pro Style gloves feature two layers of foam which are meant to absorb the jarring shock when a punch is delivered. The Protex2 gloves are curved at the knuckles for a more natural and comfortable fit. For increased wrist support, the wrist area is covered with a dual-panel foam collar, and the knuckle area is protected with the latest C3 foam technology which permits the boxer to deliver a power-packed punch without hurting him/herself.

Technology:   EVERLAST seems to have integrated most of its patented technology into the Protex2 women’s gloves. The EverCool ventilating system prevents hands from getting too warm, and the EverDri system dries up the moisture from hands. Also, the dual-layer wrist protection is unique to the Protex2 boxing gloves.
